What is Earth Day?

Earth Day is dedicated to celebrating the planet’s environment and raising awareness about pollution. What started as a grass roots movement turned into an annual event that has been celebrated for almost 50 years. The idea for Earth Day was proposed by the then-Wisconsin senator Gaylord Nelson. Every year and all over the world, service projects, conferences, outdoor activities, and rallies take place to honor this day.

This year, the focus for Earth Day 2018 is on ending plastic pollution. Plastic pollution is not only bad for the earth and can injure the animals living on it, but when it is ingested in our bodies, it can disrupt human hormones.
